Our Sofia is getting to be quite the comedian. She is more talkative than the last blog post. We took a trip up to Portland a few weeks ago so Jane could move her warehouse. There are few pictures below from our outing up there. Now that the weather has gotten warmer we have been spending much more time outdoors. We play in the backyard, and walk to the park quite often.

Hello---

Here are a few recent pictures. Sofia is getting funnier and funnier as she talks more and more. Aside from an occasional accident, she is potty trained--which is quite nice. And we also got rid of the paci 6 weeks ago---so she really is a BIG girl now!!!
Her favorite phrases these days are "I don't know" and "What's that?"

This week has been rough as she and Mommy and Daddy have all been sick. Sofia also made some new friends down the street, Lila and Sofie. She has got to play with them a few times and really enjoys their dog, Sam. Last week we all went on a hike together as you can see in the photos below.

I wanted to do a quick post about the word My.

The last few days have turned into labeling everything as My. Sofia will say "My car" or "My toy" It is pretty amusing as any object she will claim to belong to her.

Another adorable word that she just started to say is "polka dots". This started because her favorite pillowcase is covered in polka dots. She recently got some polka dots pajamas and will point at each dot and say "polka dot, polka dot, polka dot".

And one last thing...today we are going to go buy her big girl underwear. The potty training is going so well, we are about to say goodbye to the diaper!

Our bug is getting bigger and definitely not a baby anymore. The potty training is going really well and we are in the process of getting rid of the pacifier. She is really enjoying her friends at school and talks about them all the time.

Hello to everyone.

Tomorrow we are all going out of town. Tim goes to Tampa for 16 nights. Jane, Sofia, Linda (grandma), and Dakota are all going to Pomona and Santa Barbara to visit auntie Karen and the great grandparents.

Sofia is doing great! She now goes five days a week to a daycare that is a few block away from our house. It is a bilingual daycare---so she is already getting immersed in the Spanish language!!

Here are few pictures from the last few days. Yesterday Taylin came over and helped decorate cookies. Geez, I wonder if the kids liked that at all????

Belated Update with LOTS of Pix

Well, I figured since the last update was a month ago, it was time to get some news on here.

We moved in the new house just before Thanksgiving. We instantly had guests as family came up from California for the holiday. As soon as that ended the girls and I took a week long trip out to Okla-moma (Oklahoma), as Sofia called it.

We started a new daycare for Sofia last month and it is working out great. She goes 2 days a week for a few hours. Sofia is also really nailing down her alphabet and really likes P,S, and X. And with Christmas lights going up everywhere, she has gotten into the spirit by pointing out lights everywhere. We have got to spend a few nights a week with her cousin Taylin. The two are playing so well together and trying to learn to share...at least Sofia is:)

We just got back from a quick trip to Philadelphia. Our good friends, Tommy and Katie got married this last Saturday. It was a fun trip and a great time to catch up with friends. Sofia was a great sport through the long travel days to get there and back.

These are the last documented photos of a 1 year old we used to know.

The birthday girl is still sleeping right now. We ended her 2nd year with a bang yesterday by going to Costco to get the tire fixed. I was up for the challenge to wait the 2.5 hours with Sofia in tow. It went by quicker than I thought, but we were both tired on the ride home. 2.5 hours is a long time to kill with a 2 year old (I know she was not quite 2 yet). Luckily they had a pet store across the street to check out some animals. We then had a fun dinner at a southern place by our new house. They have live music in the outside seating area. And live music only means one thing to Sofia......DANCING. It is too bad we did not have the video camera. We were able to get a few photos, most of which were blurry.

We have a big weekend planned for her. Family is coming San Francisco and the Oregon Coast for her party which will be on Saturday afternoon. We have been working hard this week to clean up the new house, which will host the party.

Anyway...Sofia we love you and HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Sorry about the lack of updates/pics in the last few weeks.
We just got back from a cruise vacation. We have lots of photos that we will get posted from the trip this week.

In the meantime, here are some pictures from the last few weeks that I had not got on my computer until now.

Also, our little girl is not so little anymore....She talks ALL DAY long and is putting words together more and more. She is starting to become more interested in books and ask what different things are. Basically, she is getting older very quickly :)

Sofia is quite the little shopper and loves to go to the mall. Our big girl is blossoming into such a beautiful little person.

This picture is just so Sofia... we were walking along when she heard some music playing and decided it was time for a dancing and twirling break!

After dancing she noticed the pretty skylight above and plopped down to enjoy the pretty view...

I wanted to add a pic of what she was check out. She was amazed by the window and didn't want to get up... keep in mind this was in the middle of the mall, so it must have looked pretty funny to see her laying down for a rest.

When we'd had enough of dancing and rolling, Sofia decided to check out her purchases!

We had a super action packed day on the 4th of July. It started with a wedding... Grandpa Norm and Grannie Lyn got married in the morning followed by a quick breakfast.... then we were off to the parade!

Quick Update

We made it to San Francisco on Saturday. We had the best day because Sofia was so good... She watched Cinderella x 3 and Barnyard x 4 on the way!! We left Bandon at 8am and made it to San Francisco at 7pm. All in all, it took 9 hours in the car and we stopped for 2 breaks of 1 hour. Sofia was AMAZING. She hardly fussed the entire ride.

Well technically, we are in Bandon now. We left yesterday after work and Sofia was an ANGEL for the 2 hour and 45 minute drive. It also helped she watched Cinderella and Barnyard.

We are here until Saturday morning and then we head to San Francisco for a week. Hmmmm.. are we really driving to San Francisco (9 hours away) with a 21 month old in the car.....

WE EAGERLY AWAIT THE OUTCOME OF THIS CHOICE:)

For weeks now, Jane and I have talked about how bad a decision this may turn out to be.
So we will update you after the long drive and let you know how it goes.

In other news, we have a FULL day planned for the 4th which includes 1 wedding, 2 bbq's, 1 parade (which we may be riding on a fire truck), and of course... FIREWORKS.

I'm not sure how it is spelled, whether it is oueeee or ouwe, but Sofia picked that word up today and said it no less than 100 times. She took a tiny fall this afternoon and had a scrape on her knee. It didn't bother her right away, but shortly afterward it was deemed an ouwee.

In other news, we had a good weekend with the usual activities of house work and chasing the little one. We have a special guest later this week and she can say his name, Ken.

It is so much to take Sofia anywhere as it seems we always get a compliment here or there about what a sweet kids she is. She is a big fan of going over the grocery store where she somehow always talks daddy into getting of their "kid's cookies".

With this weather, it seems like we are outdoors all the time. We have been going on walks each night, which include a stop at the neighborhood park. There also happens to be a bakery 1 block away, how convenient:)

She now has a name for Stefanie, which is "eppee" And she likes to say "sorry" quite often now.

Sofia is in LOVE with Bella dog! Little Bella is so good with her and even seems to like Sofia back. Here they are cuddling this afternoon. We had so much fun with the visiting dogs this weekend. Tucker is on the back of the chair having a nap.

We had a great weekend completed with 3 full nights of sleep for everyone. Thank you Sofia!!!

The weather was warmer, so we were outdoors alot. Sofia got to visit the Saturday market again as well as the playground by our new house.

I have not got it on video yet, but Sofia already thinks she is 2 and not 1 years old. She can say both one and two, but seems to prefer two as her favorite number these days.

Even though yesterday is termed Fathers Day, every day is reason to celebrate with Sofia in our lives.

Well, nothing to exciting to report on these days. Sofia grows more each day, gets faster,smarter, and funnier.
She also now does not like crib, which we she is loud and clear when telling us:)

With the warmer weather, we have been spending more time outside in the backyard. Im going to go and catch up on some sleep (hopefully)

We must have had some teeth coming in the past 8 nights--as the sleeping through the night plan has been working poorly. Overall she has been in good spirits, despite the less than summer weather out here in Eugene.

It was daddy-daughter day today as Mommy was a painting machine over at the new house.

We started off going to Hiron's, which S always likes. It is a hard place to describe if you have not been there before. They have lots of, umm, junk. Well, I think it is. Other people (like Jane) love the place, as they have lots of cool knick knicks and random merchandise galore. But S loves going there and we had to pick up something at their pharmacy. While we had a few minutes to kill at the pharmacy, we walked next door to the hot dog place. S and I shared potato salad and a big sausage. I don't know which she liked more-but she did get full!!

From there we to check in on Mommy for a quick hello. Then it was off to the famous Eugene Saturday Market. We had a nice overcast 65 degree day--so it was good walking weather. S had a great time listening to the music and sampling different food and drinks. And her new favorite sport is Hacky Sack. She was mesmerized by the groups playing it. And we are in Eugene, so there was alot of Hacky Sack being played.

Oh, and the new words today were down, ucky (yucky), ready, pretty.

When Sofia says Bunny-- it comes out like "bubpy" She also uses "bubpy" to say baby or puppy.

Anyway--enjoy the weekend.

This is my new favorite photo of Sofia and Daddy. It makes me smile because she was visiting Daddy on his "lunch". One of her favorite things to do is burst into Daddy's office during the day and squeal "Daddy" totally oblivious to the fact that he may be on the phone. Mama has to watch her pretty close so she doesn't "visit" him too often, because any time she can sneak away, she'll race down the hall toward daddy and interrupt his workday!

The heat has died down a bit, which we really needed. We are quite wimpy up here when it comes to "heat" Anything above 80 and we launch into complain mode very quickly.

The fun continues as Sofia now has her new play spot--the backyard. She can spend hours out there and does not seem to become uninterested with all her toys outside.

We are getting ready for a weekend trip, as we head to Portland on Thursday. We fly to the Bay Area on Friday for Uncle Jimmy's big wedding. We will get to show off our big girl who will get to show off all her motor skills that our friends/family down there have not seen.

We hot 95 today and it was awful!!! Neither Jane or I like it past 80 at all. But anyway--we made it through the day. Here is some video from this evening where we hung out in the backyard. Sofia was running around like normal. She was very helpful (trying) to water some of the plants.

We had a nice brunch this morning---13 adults, 2 kids, 4 dogs. Thank you to all the mothers out there! Sofia had her play buddy, Taylin come over as well.

And especially to Jane--without all her hard work, life would not be the same!

Sofia is doing great these days. Her vocabulary keeps growing, and includes the following:

wow,dog,book,blue,bird,bye,hi,mama,dada,look,no,shoe,wee(not quite a word),bath,nana

Her adjustment to sleeping in the crib has been great. She sleeps great and seems to feel right at home in her special crib.

Weekend News

Well we had another busy week and weekend. Sofia is doing better then ever. She is eating more, talking more, running faster, laughing hard these days. She seems to be talking the whole day, or it seems. She will say "look" and point at something, whether it is a dog, shoe, or any other object she recognizes.

Early signs point to her being an organized little bug, as she seems to try and put things in "their" place. She has become quite helpful with laundry and putting garbage in the trash can.

With the warmer weather these days, we have been able to enjoy more time outside. We have a nice park 2 blocks away and also have a good backyard where Sofia and the dogs can run around.

So, the big news in the last few weeks is that Sofia is now "on her own" and does not sleep with us anymore. We are still in the same room, but she is in her crib. We kept her in bed with us just about 1 year after bringing her home. The adjustment has gone so well (knock on wood!).
She doesn't seem to mind it at all and I think we are all sleeping ok.
I do miss having her in bed with us, but this is a bit easier. So we'll see how it works out.

Belated Update

I know, I know-there has been no update in 2 weeks here. I was gone for 12 nights for a work trip. It was painful as I missed SOOOO much while I was gone. I arrived back on Sunday to a whole new person. No more baby, no more little girl---I have no clue where Sofia went. I was greeted with a new Sofia. She is amazing beyond belief and is walking, walking, and hardly needs up anymore. She says look, amongst some other new words. She can speak in full sentences now, even though we don't know what she is talking about. She is running full blast and is in love with deodorant.

Anyway, I am back with my baby and my Janie. We are beyond SUPER busy with work on our house. So that is the other reason for the lack of updates this week.

I hope everyone is doing well and getting good weather wherever you are.

This is my favorite picture and pretty much sums up the experience! Here are a few pics from Sofia's first concert... We were fortunate enough to get to go see the Wiggles LIVE!! Sofia had a great time and by the end was dancing in the aisle. It was a good thing we had 2nd row seats to keep her attention (one of the perks of having a daddy who deals tickets for a living).

The girls just left to go to Vancouver for the week. It is Sunday night and I will not see them until 2 weeks from today. Why you ask? Jane had to go up to Vancouver for work and comes back Friday. I leave Tuesday for 13 nights for a work trip.

Anyway, the last week was a LONG one, as the girls spent most of the time under the weather. Jane is still slightly sick and had a bad cold all week. Our little one didn't have it that bad, but still seemed to not to be her usual crazy self. She had a great day today and it was good to see her well again before they left.

Everyone tells me how quick "they grow up" and "enjoy them while they are this age". For every time I hear that, I notice it in great magnitude. I catch myself blown away at how tall, big, fast, funny, loud, smart, strong, and clever our baby (she is not a baby anymore) is. But she is and will always be our baby. In the pictures below you will see her enjoying her 1st backpack. My mind quickly thought of how before I know it I will be dropping her off (with a different backpack most likely) for 1st grade, 8th grade, etc.

That's enough of a deep thought for tonight. Anyway, Sofia is the best and we are very lucky to have her in our lives.

Back to that backpack.....

She got that Saturday and could not stop rolling it around or carrying it or packing things into it. We were amazed, as most things keep her attention for not more than 1-2 minutes. But she was attached to the duck backpack. And it is fitting as she will have a trip out to Oklahoma in May and I'm sure they will get a kick out of that, since they are HUGE duck fans out in Oklahoma!!

Here are some videos from the last weekend. You can see Sofia did her best to ensure years of dental work. We only celebrated Easter three times, which meant loads of candy at 3 different times over the weekend. The weekend ended with and Sofia and Taylin battling it out for candy,eggs, and baskets. They are are playing together quite a bit these days and its fun to see them interact with each other. They do gymnastics on Mondays, swimming on Tuesdays, and story time on Wednesdays.

It is still not over yet, but the weekend has been action packed. We spent the day yesterday at a ranch 2 hours outside of Eugene with some family. And it was amazing how much there was to do there!

Through the day Sofia fed goats,ducks,horses. She also rode a horse, hunted for easter eggs, and started a rock collection. And after all that she still did not sleep one minute on the ride home. We were slightly concerned, but then figured it may have been due to the 89 jelly beans she ate all afternoon.

There were more Easter eggs this morning and in a little bit, we are going to see The Wiggles live and in person. She is napping now and getting ready for a BIG afternoon. After the wiggles, we have more easter eggs to go hunt for over at Jane's aunt Shirle's house.

A few new things took place this week that may or may not be interesting to those without kids, but we find them quite funny... well, most of the time (#1 got kind of old after the first 20 times).

1. She likes to take her pacifier out of her mouth and drop it behind the bed where we cannot get it and then say "uh oh" and laugh.

2. Sofia now refers to dogs as "arf-arfs" instead of dogs. Sees a dog and does not say dog anymore, but says arf, arf. This is due to the massive amount of barking that goes on in the house by the 4 dogs that live here.

Bird is the new word. Sofia is really enjoying one book we have for her, that is about animal sounds. She loves going through the whole book and looking at all the different animals.
So, she said bird the other day, which was great to hear. I had an old t shirt on yesterday and we were in the supermarket and I said where is the bird and she pointed right at the t shirt that has a few birds on the front.

Anyway here are some before and after pictures from last night. Before and after dinner that is. I bet you cannot guess which picture was taken before dinner.

Uh Oh its a Pink Ball

Well those are 2 different items for the week. "Uh oh" is her new and I guess 1st phrase she has been speaking. She likes to say it so much, she will repeat it sometimes if said to her. Even better is that she will say it sometimes after dropping something. This led us to wonder who in the house says Uh oh and we don't have a clue who does say it. Regardless, it is her favorite word right now. She has also been saying daddy much more, which is nice to hear. We got a few evenings where her mood was so good that we got some laughing that was almost equal to a yell or a scream, which made us laugh just as hard.

Now, the pick ball. Jane and her were shopping yesterday and they walked by a ball display (you know those round bouncy ones perfect for kickball) and Sofia says "ball". That was enough for Jane to get her the pick one to bring home with them. She carried it around as much as she could yesterday and loved to watch me dribble it in front of her and really laughed alot at the ball.

I hope you had a great one. We most certainly did here!! Last week we hired a new babysitter for Sofia and she started on Friday. Thongs could not have gone better and they hit it off right away. So we had quite a productive few hours at the house getting some work done. Sofia was also excited to see Auntie Karen and Dakota. She always has lots of fun when they are around, especially Dakota!!

We did get some sunshine yesterday afternoon and we snuck in the park real quick by our new house. Sofia laughed forever on the mary go round. She even continued laughing as her face gave the look of "I may vomit any minute"--At that point we took her off as Daddy may have spun it a bit too hard.

The girls are still sleeping as Sofia decided 4am was a time to not be sleeping. They need to rest up as they have gymnastics at 10 this morning!. Hopefully I remember to send the video camera with Jane.

As the good weather continues, our trips to the park will continue. We got back today from the park and the little bug is tired out. She dug sand, shared sand, laughed at the sand. She REALLY likes sand. I guess as a kid, I enjoyed sand. They all seem to love it, meaning the children. But as an adult I do not like sand at all. So, i have had to put that aside as a parent:) I have come full circle now to not mind playing,scooping, and walking in sand. I sat Sofia on a teeter-totter today for the 1st time and had her go up and down a few times (I was holding her, so don't freak out Mike) and she kept laughing.

Her new favorite toy this week is the vacuum cleaner. She loves to mount it as if it will start moving. But she likes the shape and size that allow her to get on and off it with ease. And for a food update that you have all been waiting for.....she is eating more meat these days. She still will not eat ALOT of it, but has increased her intake. "Mama" is her favorite word this week and she has said Daddy maybe 10 times total. Oh well, I will not hold it against her.

So i took Sofia over to the new house to see the cats yesterday after work. As we were over there, I noticed it was still nice and sunny out and it was already 5:05pm!!! Thankfully we are headed slowly out of winter season.

So we went over to the park by the new house, which we had not gone to before. It is 4 blocks away, which will be great as we can walk there. But we drove yesterday because we were not going to have much daylight left. Thumbs up to the new park which Sofia loved. She still is not much for the swings at all, refusing to be put in one. But she does love the slide--ANY slide.
There were also plenty of dogs there, which she enjoys to watch and say "wow" or "dog".

She also had her 1st gymnastics class yesterday. Jane took her and met her aunt, who has a 2 year old granddaughter, Taylyn. Sofia did well for her 1st time and I can't wait to go see her there-They are going to go Monday mornings. Today they are going to a swim class together.

And to finish up the weekend, Sofia had a party at Papa' Pizza-where they have a HUGE kids play room to make up for the average food served there. We met Taylyn and her mom Sunday night there for dinner. Some of the pictures are below. Sofia drew a great amount of confusion at first with the giant ball pit. She seemed to be unsure of how many balls there were and where they came from.

It happens more than you think

Anyway, so we went to the grocery store Wednesday for an afternoon outing to get all the essentials. After shopping we went back to the car to go home and i opened the trunk to put in the groceries then closed the trunk. I then took Sofia and put her in her car seat while she played with the car keys. I buckled her in and then got the car keys from her and tossed them into the front seat as I always do. I closed Sofia's door and went to open the driver's side door.

It was locked!

So I stood there and stared in the car seeing my baby in the backseat and keys laying on the front seat. In the 8 seconds Sofia had the keys while getting in her seat, she had pressed the button to lock the doors.

So I called Jane as I began to freak out slightly. She came over with her parents and we took about 40 minutes and finally got the car unlocked thanks to her stepdad. We also called a service, Pop A Lock (800-POPALOCK) and they came just as Bruce opened up the car. They arrived much faster than the roadside assistance for our car insurance. Keep their # handy in case you ever need it. The Pop A Lock guy said that this is th 54th call since August that they have had for this situation--so it does happen more than I ever thought:)

Sofia actually held up really well during all this. The 1st 20 minutes she hung out with no real problem. The last twenty was not as pleasant. But thankfully no one was hurt and I learned a valuable lesson!!!

Late Weekend Wrapup

Sorry I am late for updates. We got back from San Francisco late last night after a fun filled, action packed weekend. Sofia had a splendid time seeing all of her San Francisco family. She was a great traveler and was geared up to have that special 1st kiss!!!

Unfortunately we did not capture any video or pictures of the special moment. But my parent's neighbor has a 20 month old who Sofia played with and she snuck one kiss on him to make history.

Hopefully she will wait 23 more years to kiss another boy.

The other highlight of the weekend was the party on Sunday for Tommy and Katy's engagement party. We all got dressed up including yours truly. Funny thing is, someone else had the same dress as her!! The other crazy thing is that there were 2 other girls there born within 3 days of Sofia!

Anyway, we had a great time and here some pictures from the last week. I am tired and going to bed.

I know it has not been updated in a few days. It is early Tuesday now. I got lots of QT with Sofia over the weekend, as mom was working over at the new house. Sofia and I played chase around the house and did quite a bit of dancing. The weather was nice Saturday, so we took a walk to the park as well, which was alot of fun. I have forgot to share with all of you that she now can identify different body parts by pointing with her finger. She can point out her ear,nose,mouth,eye, and foot. And point to those parts on our bodies as well.

Well, we have a big trip this coming week. We drive up to Portland Thursday to pick up Lexi and catch a flight to the Bay Area. We will be staying at Grandma and Grandpa's for 4 nights. We are going for an engagement party that a friend is having. So we all can get dressed up Sunday. Sofia most certainly will be able to show off new relearned walking skills to the family down there.

Eating Machine

As she is growing, I guess she gets more hungry. Sofia put on an eating display last night. Jane prepared a great pasta bake with chicken last night. And Sofia sure loved it. It is always a good sign if we have to bathe her after dinner. That means she really liked the meal. She still is not too much into meat. So we try to sneak it in there via ground beef or chicken.

As you can see below, we have started having her eat with a spoon. She has done it a few times and seems to be a natural at it. We'll see how long it is until she launches the spoon and/or the bowl off her food tray.

In addition to all that, yesterday was more of the usual--with her walking about 167 circles in the front of the house.

In this 1st picture, she is not sad or anything-I know it looks that way. She was just playing with a ball at the end of the hallway and I thought it was a nice shot.

What a treat it was to come home Sunday night!!

As soon as Sofia saw me from the car, she started laughing. I hope she meant it in a good way:) It was great to see my girls and get back to normal life. I got the last 2 days off work, which was well received by everybody. I got caught up to speed with all the latest happenings with Sofia and the new house.

She got so much bigger in the time I was gone. She is now walking circles around the house. And she has picked up the word "go" and is constantly talking. She got her bangs cut by Mommy and is just the most adorable little angel.

Here are some pictures from the last 2 days with her. We went to the mall and then to shop for tile. Sofia will turn out like mom and will be able to shop all day!!

This morning we woke to a snowy surprise! Here are the pics from Sofia's first time touching snow. Last time is snowed she had the cast on so we couldn't go outside, but this time she got to check it out. Various sources have reported seeing a walking toddler named Sofia!!

I got the good news to hear that the bug is walking again. Although she has been under the weather this week, she took a few steps last night.

I added a few pictures below that were taken 8 days ago when we went out for the birthday celebration .

It is strange to see these after not seeing her for 6 days and really realize how fast/quick she is growing. The time is flying by at an amazing speed, so we MUST enjoy it while we can. I don't mean to get preachy here. So give a hug to someone today!

Birthday week

Well we had quite a week this last 7 days. Bruce celebrated his 60th and I celebrated my 30th. We continued work on the house. Sofia got to see her Lexi on a roadtrip to Portland. I got to Phoenix Friday for a 16 night stay. So I won't have any picture updates for a while. Feel free to call/email Jane to have her get some pictures of the princess up here.

Anyway, I miss the girls and can't wait to get home!!

Another Baby.....

No, not that kind. It is our new house that some of you know about. Well we finally have started the renovations. We have a long road ahead of us. Since we have had a lack of baby pictures lately, I will share a few of the new baby.

Sofia is doing great by the way. She is regaining her strength in her leg that was never broken, but had a cast on for 21 days. She and mommy are about to lose daddy for 16 nights-which no one is looking forward to, but duty calls.

Clarification

While Sofia had a cast on her leg for 3 weeks, we were not able to bathe her in a tub. Rather we hand washed her. This included washing her hair.

We did this next to the sink. She did not enjoy this at all.

I know some of you were wondering about we handled this for 21 days.

Yesterday, the cast that locked down Sofia was removed. The doctor told us that, most likely, she did not have any sort of break or fracture. This was great to hear and now we can have the crazy walker back into our lives.

We celebrated with a dinner followed by a bath. That was a real treat, since she had not had one for 3 weeks. And she had got some new bath toys for Christmas that were waiting to be played with.
